Stainless steel label number
Us standard: ASTM A240/A240M 304
The American iron and steel institute USES three - digit notation for all standard grades of malleable stainless steel. Austenitic stainless steel with 200 and 300 series of digital marking.
(2) ferrite and martensitic stainless steels are represented by 400 series Numbers. For example, some of the more common austenitic stainless steels are labeled 201, 304, 316, and 310.
(3) ferritic stainless steel is 430 and 446 as the mark, martensitic stainless steel is 410, 420 and 440C as the mark, two-phase (austenitic ferrite).
(4) stainless steel precipitation hardening stainless steel and iron content less than 50% of the high alloy is usually used in the patent name or trademark name.
